Data protection

Controller

The following person is responsible for the operation of this website and for the processing of personal data described here:

Scope, purposes, and legal bases

This privacy notice applies to https://sound-informed-breathing.ch/. We process personal data in accordance with the Swiss Federal Act on Data Protection (FADP) and, where applicable, the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR).

Where the GDPR applies, providing and securing the website and portal, answering enquiries, and privacy-conscious measurement of basic page and exercise totals are based on our legitimate interests in operating a secure, useful, and economical online service. We process data to comply with legal obligations where required. Optional statistics, Vimeo, and interactive maps are based on consent. Portal access, donations, and practitioner profiles are processed to provide the requested function, manage access, keep accounts, or publish information that has been approved for publication.

Hosting and server logs

The website, its database, and our own usage statistics are hosted by METANET AG, Zurich, in Swiss data centres. Backups are stored by METANET in a separate Swiss data centre and may additionally be stored by us in Switzerland. Our email mailboxes are also hosted by METANET in Switzerland.

When the website is accessed, technical log data may be processed, including IP address, date and time, requested URL, referrer, browser and operating system information, HTTP status, and transferred data volume. These data are used to deliver the website, maintain security, troubleshoot errors, and prevent misuse. Log data are retained only for as long as necessary for these purposes or legal requirements.

Cookies and consent settings

We use technically necessary cookies and local browser storage to provide core website functions, remember consent choices, language settings, and portal notices, and enable secure login areas. Detailed information is provided in the Cookies and similar technologies section below.

Optional services, especially external media and maps, are loaded only after consent. Consent can be changed at any time in the cookie settings.

Vimeo videos

Some pages contain videos provided by Vimeo.com, Inc., USA. Vimeo content is blocked until consent for external media has been given. After consent, the browser connects directly to Vimeo. Vimeo may then process the IP address, device and browser information, the page viewed, playback and interaction data, and existing Vimeo cookies, and may use its own cookies or similar technologies.

Vimeo may process these data in the United States and other countries. Vimeo states that it participates in the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework. Once the player has been loaded, we have only limited control over the scope, retention, and further processing of data by Vimeo. Further information is available in the Vimeo privacy policy and in Vimeo’s information about the Data Privacy Framework.

Our own video statistics are separate from Vimeo’s data processing. They are activated only if usage statistics have also been accepted and are stored in our website database in Switzerland. We evaluate video starts, viewing progress, completions, and technical errors. Vimeo may independently process its own usage data after the player has been enabled. Vimeo consent and statistics consent are separate choices.

Privacy-conscious usage statistics

We record successful page and exercise views on our own server without setting a statistics cookie or recognising a browser. Each view initially creates a record without a browser or session identifier. These records are later combined into daily and monthly totals. The recorded information concerns the content viewed, time, language, type of access, device type, source of the visit, and approximate country.

To determine the approximate country of origin, the IP address is briefly compared with the DB-IP Country Lite database stored locally on our server when a page is accessed. The database is licensed under CC BY 4.0 and is used without modification. The IP address is not transmitted to DB-IP or any other geolocation service. Our statistics database stores only the resulting two-letter country code, such as CH or DE, and not the full IP address. Country detection is approximate and does not determine a person’s precise location.

With consent for usage statistics, random first-party browser and session identifiers are added. They allow us to estimate devices and sessions and evaluate downloads, outbound links, and video progress. Names, email addresses, WordPress user IDs and full IP addresses are not stored with these statistics.

For portal access, the statistics distinguish only whether a visit was made without login, through a logged-in account, or as an administrator. They do not store which individual logged-in person made a visit. Statistics from SIM, SIB and MIS may be evaluated together. Individual view records and identifiers are normally deleted after 90 days; daily totals are retained for up to 24 months and monthly totals for longer-term comparisons.

We may create combined internal statistics reports from the usage data. These reports may be sent to recipients selected by us who need them to evaluate and operate the websites.

The statistics consent can be withdrawn at any time in the cookie settings. The current statistics cookies are deleted and no further optional events are collected. Combined statistics that were lawfully created before consent was withdrawn remain.

Maps and practitioner search

The practitioner search may display an interactive map using resources from OpenFreeMap, OpenStreetMap, and the unpkg.com delivery network.

Map content is loaded only after consent for external media. OpenFreeMap in Hungary, the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom, and the delivery network may then receive the IP address, browser information, and the approximate map area viewed. With a globally operated delivery network, the processing location may vary depending on the visitor’s location and the provider’s current infrastructure.

Contact, portal, and donations

If you contact us by email, telephone, or other means, we process the information you provide and the communication data needed to answer your enquiry.

For portal access, we process account, login, and usage data as needed to provide and manage the protected exercise portal. For donations by QR payment slip or bank transfer, payment details are processed by the participating banks and by us for allocation, accounting, and documentation.

Practitioner directory

The practitioner directory contains professional profile data that practitioners provide or approve for publication, such as name, qualification, offer, contact details, region, and address or location data for search and map display.

To convert an approved address into map coordinates, we may transmit the address to Nominatim, a geocoding service operated by the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom. The resulting coordinates are stored in our system. This server-side geocoding is separate from the optional interactive map used by website visitors.

Practitioners may request correction, updating, or removal of their profile data at any time, subject to legal retention requirements.

Service providers and transfers abroad

METANET AG, Zurich, provides hosting, databases, backups, and email services. SCW Media Services GmbH, Grenchen, supports us with technical maintenance, development, and website operation and may access website and system data to the extent required for this work. Banks involved in a donation process payment data under their own legal responsibility. External media and map providers process data as described above.

Our core website, database, statistics, backup, and email data are generally stored in Switzerland. According to METANET’s published information, subcontractors in Switzerland, Germany, Spain, Bulgaria, the United Kingdom, and the United States may be involved depending on the services used, particularly for email filtering, security, storage technology, and technical support. The specific providers and processing locations may change with METANET’s infrastructure. Further information is available in METANET’s published subcontractor list.

Where we know specific processing countries, we name them in this privacy notice. With globally operated delivery networks, the specific processing location may change and cannot always be determined by us in advance. Where required, transfers are based on consent, a recognised adequacy or data privacy framework, contractual safeguards, or another legally recognised mechanism. Vimeo states that transfers to the United States are covered by the Swiss–U.S. Data Privacy Framework and, where appropriate, standard contractual clauses.

We do not sell personal data.

Security and retention

We use technical and organisational measures to protect personal data, including encrypted transmission through SSL/TLS where available. No internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

We retain personal data only for as long as necessary for the stated purposes, for legal retention duties, or for the establishment, exercise, or defence of legal claims. Server logs are deleted in accordance with the operational and security periods used by the hosting provider. Enquiries are retained for as long as needed to answer and document them. Portal data are retained while access is required; practitioner profiles until they are withdrawn or no longer current; and accounting records for the applicable statutory period. Backups are overwritten within the provider’s regular backup cycles. The specific retention periods for our usage statistics are stated in the statistics section above.

Your rights

Depending on the applicable law, you may request information about your personal data, access, correction, deletion, restriction of processing, data portability, or object to processing. You may withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.

You may also contact the competent data protection supervisory authority, in Switzerland in particular the Federal Data Protection and Information Commissioner (FDPIC), or an EU/EEA supervisory authority if the GDPR applies.

Changes and contact

We may update this privacy notice when the website, services, or legal requirements change. The version published on this website applies.

For privacy questions or requests, please contact us using the contact details above.

Cookies and similar technologies

Necessary cookies and browser storage

We use the following technically necessary cookies and local browser storage. They provide requested website functions and are not used for advertising or audience measurement.

Statistics and marketing

We use a first-party, privacy-conscious usage statistics service. Basic page and exercise totals are counted without a statistics cookie and without recognising a browser. Random browser and session cookies are set only after statistics consent. We do not use the data for advertising, individual member profiles, or cross-domain tracking. We do not use marketing services.

External media: Vimeo

Vimeo videos are loaded only after consent for external media. Vimeo.com, Inc., USA, may then process the IP address, browser and device information, the page viewed, playback data, and existing Vimeo cookies and may use its own cookies or similar technologies. Processing may take place in the United States and other countries. Our own video statistics are separate and require additional statistics consent. Further information is available in the Vimeo privacy policy.

External media: maps

The practitioner map is loaded only after consent for external media. OpenFreeMap in Hungary, the OpenStreetMap Foundation in the United Kingdom, and the unpkg.com delivery network may then receive the IP address, browser information, and the approximate map area viewed. With a globally operated delivery network, the processing location may vary.
